ABOUT NORTHWEST ENGINEERING

The Northwest Engineering was a manufacturer of cranes, draglines, and power shovels for more than 50 years before declaring bankruptcy. When Northwest Engineering was three months from liquidation, it was acquired by Randolph Lenz in 1983, who pivoted the business from equipment manufacturing to spare parts production and sales.

In the coming years, Northwest Engineering would acquire a number of equipment manufacturers to expand their production capabilities. This included Terex USA in 1986, along with the Terex Equipment Limited. A few years later in 1988 after further expansion, Lenz would change Northwest Engineering’s name to Terex Corporation, and Northwest Engineering became a division of Terex.
