ABOUT KOMATSU

Founded in 1869, the Westinghouse Air Brake Company (WABCO) was responsible for inventing the railway air brake that same year. Eventually moving onto brake solutions for trucks and cars in the 1920’s, WABCO entered the heavy equipment market in 1953, beginning to manufacture scrapers, cranes, and bulldozers. WABCO fought for market share in the heavy equipment space, with its full range including motor graders, off-highway trucks, dump trucks and motor scrapers being sold to Dresser in 1984. Dresser would go on to form a joint venture with Komatsu, with Komatsu eventually purchasing full control.
